Ann King Lagos, the famous jewelry designer and local celebrity (she’s been on QVC for years and helped build the Lagos jewelry brand) will be in store on May 4–5 with pieces from her Realm jewelry collection.
Realm was born three years ago as a fashion-forward option for female self-purchasers. The signature style is a stylized version of a heraldic crest, while the firm’s ethos of Reign Thoughtfully targets the empowered “empress” consumers who wear the jewels. Pieces are made in sterling silver and 18k gold yellow and rose gold vermeil, as well as in silver with black ruthenium—options Lagos calls her “Four shades of Realm.”
“You need that fashion jewelry impact of different colors that silver alone can’t give you,” she says. “Realm is the best of both the worlds of fine jewelry and fashion—when you’re looking for a great piece that is affordable with a high-end quality look and feel, look at Realm. It’s made in the same places and by the same hands as some of the big silver brands.”
Lagos’ deep jewelry design roots helped her earn the 2013 Visionary Woman Award from Moore College of Art as well as a nomination for the 2014 Fashion Group International Rising Star Award in Fine Jewelry. In store, she’ll have plenty of her cool black ruthenium styles, including the choker shown below. More styles include hoop earrings, bangle bracelets, and cuffs. Retail prices start at $100.
“The rise of silver jewelry came about years ago because women were working and needed to complete a look that they could purchase themselves,” says Lagos. “Realm is a fresh modern way to dress that is about mixing metal colors like rose with black—we show you how to pull it all together. Realm is a fresh modern look that goes beyond just silver and diamonds.”
Bonus: Feel great about your purchases because 10 percent of proceeds will benefit the Gift of Life Family House!
While jewelry selections at the recently held 2018 Oscars weren’t as thrilling as the award recipients (the delightfully unconventional Frances McDormand of “Fargo” fame nabbed yet another Best Actress trophy for her role in “Three Billboards Outside of Missouri”), viewers could at least be inspired by some of the jewels’ silhouettes and colors. Think statement necklaces, drop and chandelier earrings, and touches of blue in sapphires and aquamarines—perhaps a nod to the Best Picture winner “The Shape of Water?” Whichever ensemble was your favorite (ours was Ashley Judd in loads of diamonds!), Diane Glynn has an inspired style that you can take home like your own little piece of Hollywoodesque gold.
A Touch of Blue
From $3.8 million worth of sapphires and diamonds on Helen Mirren to a 27 ct. aquamarine necklace on Gal Gadot, the new Wonder Woman, sparkles of blue were abundant. Make this pair of kyanite and pearl hoops your own for a budget-friendly blue homage.

Sunday night’s 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., offered viewers everything that a Hollywood event should, including celebrities, drama, and lots of sparkle! From the collective decision of the Hollywood elite to wear black to demonstrate support for the Times Up legal rights movement, to the real-world activists brought to the event by stars (think Big Little Lies’ Laura Dern, winner of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, who brought Mónica Ramírez of World Without Exploitation), to the diamonds—loads of diamonds—this year’s affair did not disappoint. The top three jewelry takeaways of the night were long earrings, statement rings, and multiple ear piercings. Let Diane Glynn Jewelry help you make the looks your own through our offerings below.
Whether you are a star or a soccer mom, long earrings are an easy choice when getting gussied up. The ones on display at the Globes ranged from dramatically long pearls—see Maggie Gyllenhaal’s pearl-accented shoulder-dusters—to colorless diamond chandeliers on songstress Mariah Carey, to linear numbers on E!’s Giuliana Rancic. The right pair for you? Just choose your favorite.

Girls’ Allison Williams and nominee Katherine Langford opted for colorless-diamond versions, while many emerald styles made appearances as well. And while numbers worn on the red carpet easily soar into the thousands of dollars, Diane Glynn has options that won’t set you back several paychecks.

Multiple Ear Piercings. The multi-earring party raged on millennial types on Sunday night! Lucky for you, Diane Glynn has a vast inventory of these fun styles.

New York City–based designer Fern Freeman will be in store this weekend with extra gold styles for holiday shopping! Fern is one of Diane and Lisa’s favorite artisans, and it’s not hard to see why given her rich inventory of dramatic long earrings and sexy bolo-tie bracelets.
With a background in fashion design, Fern fell hard for jewelry when a friend urged her to take a Byzantine jewelry-making class for fun. It wasn’t until people started requesting to buy the pieces Fern wore—her own handiwork—that she officially traded clothing racks for jewelry cases.
That was 15 years ago, and today Fern’s love of old-world techniques, wire wrapping, and granulation take shape in 18k yellow gold designs made by her at a jeweler’s bench. Her undeniably sultry and 1970s-esque signature style is evident in mismatched, stiletto-drop, and shoulder-duster earrings, and long tassel necklaces on slinky chains. For sure, pieces with movement define the Fern Freeman aesthetic.
“I’m motivated by fashion and love chains, fringe, and pieces that move,” says Freeman. “I look to the runways for inspiration and use gems like Ethiopian opals that do not limit wearers’ color choices in clothes. When I make a new collection, it starts with a shape I love like waves or a rhombus or trapezoid. People are looking for clean, big and bold looks that have a flow—they have to be sexy.”
Jewelry editor Jennifer Heebner calls Fern a “go-to source” for statement-making styles.
Drop by from 11 am to 5 pm this Saturday to meet Fern and see some of her newest pieces, including flexible rings, tribal-inspired earrings, and fringe-laced earring backs, a new and super popular look that can help update basic earrings. Also on the menu: Prosecco, chocolates, and light bites.
A special guest from Italy is visiting Diane Glynn Jewelry in Jenkintown, Pa., next week to deliver some of the prettiest handmade leather, gold, pearl, and gemstone jewels you’ll ever see. On Thursday, Dec. 7, one of the artisans from Milan-based jeweler Misani will be in store with extra merchandise to inspire a more joyful holiday season. Drop by between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to visit, sip Prosecco, nibble on biscotti, and to try on some of the extra styles that will be in store for just one day.
The 52-year-old jewelry maker crafts pieces by hand in 18k gold with precious gemstones and pearls, often on leather cord. The styles are chunky, fun, timeless, and ideal for everyday wear.
“Misani is an expert in mixing leather, gold, and stones,” explains Lisa Vinicur, co-owner of the store with her mom, Diane Glynn. “Misani makes pieces that are playful and meant to be worn and enjoyed—not to sit in a drawer!”
You may recognize some of Misani’s signature looks from Lisa and Diane’s last shopping trip to the jewelry shows in Las Vegas; they stocked up on myriad styles there, many of which sold quickly in store. If you didn’t nab your favorite piece at that time, then don’t miss this in-store Misani event taking place next week. It’s not often that Italian brand representatives can personally visit U.S. stores, so take advantage of it to secure your piece of covetable Italian artistry.
Late this summer, Diane and Lisa added another fabulously talented designer to the inventory mix at the store. Meet Jane Taylor and Cleo Zancope (Jane’s daughter) of Jane Taylor Jewelry!
If you haven’t already noticed the breathtaking selections of colored gemstone jewelry available from Jane in our showcases, stop by and try some on! You can also find some in our e-store.
Meanwhile, we asked Jane, the designer (Cleo handles sales and marketing) a few questions about inspiration and style so you could become familiar with her work. Read on to get to know Jane and her fine jewelry design aesthetic!
Cleo Zancope (lt.) and Jane Taylor (rt.) of Jane Taylor Jewelry
Diane Glynn Jewelry: For how long have you been making fine jewelry and what drew you to a career as a designer?
Jane Taylor: I was drawn to the magical sparkly aspect of jewelry as a very young child. I made my first serious piece with diamonds and emeralds at age 18.
DGJ: Describe the signature style of your jewelry. How do shoppers know a piece is yours without looking at a tag?
JT: I love mid-century modern art and design—its pared-down aesthetic has always influenced my style. I like clean and sleek looks that are highly functional, and, have lots of colored stones!

DGJ: You do work with lots of gemstones! What are some of your favorites and why?
JT: I really love them all! At the moment, though, I’m particularly smitten with multi-color sapphires and opals.
DGJ: What are some of the most fabulous pieces you’ve ever made?
JT: Some large cuffs full of rare and irreplaceable gemstones (see the photo below for an example)!
One-of-a-kind gemstone cuff in gold
DGJ: What is the biggest compliment you have ever received for your jewelry?
JT: That people say my designs are their ‘go-to' pieces that bring them so much joy that they wear them daily and don’t take them off.
DGJ: What Jane Taylor pieces do you recommend women buy to start building their personal collection?
JT: This year, we focused on making little hoops in every color that are super wearable—from athletic clothes to evening wear. The hoops are available in a range of fabulous stones including diamonds, sapphires, turquoise, and opal and are a little chubby, a little classic, and very cool.

Congratulations! You’ve wrapped up another summer with the kids. You have gracefully navigated summer camp, trips to the pool, and a family vacation where you masterfully juggled beach chairs, buckets and pails, and bottles of sunscreen in single trips between your Stone Harbor rental and the beach. You deserve a medal of honor if not a day (or two) off to mark the close of another chapter of selflessness in the book of motherhood.
As you shop for school supplies for your child, consider treating yourself to a little retail therapy. Diane Glynn Jewelry in Jenkintown, Pa., has many fine jewelry selections starting under $500. All the best,
What to Wear…to Weekend Get-Togethers. Another Saturday afternoon at the roller rink? No problem! Your kid’s fidget spinner will help pass the time until wine o’ clock strikes.
We hope you are enjoying your summer! Diane Glynn Jewelry is excited to share some jewelry news with you. We have recently added merchandise from two designers to the store in Jenkintown and our e-store for 24/7 shopping convenience.
We are now stocking Jane Taylor Fine Jewelry, a beautifully made line in 14k and 18k gold that is rich in vibrant colors of gemstones! Jane Taylor is known for her impeccable eye for color and modern classic styling complete with bezel settings and loads of fancy cuts of stones (think kites). Jane offers a fun collection of contemporary pieces that you’ll covet and that will garner loads of compliments. Several pieces are already in the store, and we’ll be adding more in the coming days.
Our next new collection is Maria Luisa Pianegonda of Maria Luisa Jewels. Maria Luisa comes from a long-established family of Italian jewelers who specialize in hand-carved designs. Maria Luisa’s pieces reflect that craftsmanship in detailed, heirloom-quality sterling silver pieces that look as though they were dug up from a trove of forgotten treasure. Be sure to stop by the store and see the new display, and don’t leave without trying on some of the designs! You’ve got to experience the weight and quality firsthand. Look for styles in the e-store as well.
At the end of August, we’re expecting a visit from yet another Italian designer (our store’s specialty), so please stay tuned for the announcement on those dates.
Soak up some sun and have fun with the kids this month before they head back to school!
All the best, Diane and Lisa
Lisa and Diane are back from shopping the annual fine jewelry shows in Las Vegas and are ready to share their new purchases with you!
Jewelry style trends include dramatic long and mismatched earrings, lariat necklaces, and cuff and stacking bracelets. Butterflies remain a strong motif in collections, and colored stones like turquoise continue to be a favorite in lines, especially for summer.
Not surprisingly, new pieces en route to the store now are from international artisans with whom the mother-and-daughter duo maintain strong relationships. “We have a lot of new merchandise—bangle bracelets with color and diamonds, and necklaces with hanging diamonds that are great for layering—coming in at the end of June,” says Lisa. Also in transit: Silver and gold cuffs with diamonds that are ideal for channeling your own inner Wonder Woman!
Diane Glynn Jewelry also has some important announcements. The first is about hours of operation for the store, located at 261 Old York Rd in Jenkintown, Pa.; the store will be closed on Mondays from July 3 to August 28 and early—at 3 pm—on every Saturday in July and August. (Should you need a private appointment during those times, however, don’t hesitate to reach out to Lisa@dianeglynnjewelry.com and she will be happy to accommodate you.)
A second announcement is about another upcoming in-store event taking place July 20–22, 2017. Based on customer requests, Diane and Lisa will be hosting a Summertime Tribute to Turquoise and bringing in extra turquoise jewelry to delight and educate shoppers. For example, did you know that the purest form of turquoise is called Sleeping Beauty from Arizona? The mine that produced the gem recently closed, but Lisa and Diane’s impeccable sourcing skills and connections mean they still have access to great pieces that others do not have.
Mark your calendars and be sure drop by to see dozens of extra new styles pulled in for just two-and-a-half days only!
Gemstones and cake team up in a trunk show happening in the store on May 11-12 from 10 am to 5 pm!
Lisa and Diane are bringing in new silver, gold, diamond, and gemstone (think turquoise for summer) inventory from some of their favorite international artisans.
Plus, their friend and custom baker, Paula Travieso of Labriel Sweets, is bringing a gorgeous geode-motif cake with colors inspired by some of the new jewelry. (Paula and her glorious baked goods will be in store on Friday, May 12, between 11 am and 4 pm.)
Price points start at just $200, and timing of the event is ideal with Mother’s Day on May 14. Something else on hand? Prosecco—it’s the perfect potable for trying on Italian jewels, a category that Diane Glynn Jewelry has in abundance. Stop in to sip, nibble, and try on jewels for yourself or your mom!
Longtime Diane Glynn customer Suzan will visit for both the cake and jewels. She loves bracelets, and the store is one of her top destinations for jewelry.
“Diane always has such nice things, and Lisa gives me ideas on how to put looks together,” she explains. “I trust them, they have quality pieces, and it’s not the same merchandise sold at department stores.”
